22. Edge vs. Undertaker (Summerslam 2008)
21. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (WrestleMania X)

40. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock (WrestleMania XIX)
This match was the Final Showdown between the Sheriffs of the Attitude Era. They were both very popular but for different reasons. Rock was entertaining and flashy, while Stone Cold was straightforward and no-nonsense. Going into this match, Steve's body was wearing down. The night before, Austin was rushed to the Hospital because he was at the near point of a Heart Attack. Still, Austin fought on to give the very best that he could in this farewell. By this point, The Rock himself was no longer a regular WWE Superstar, as he had a deeper commitment to Hollywood. When you watch a match, you don't want to believe that this is the end for either competitor, especially since these two defined their Era unlike anybody else besides Hulk Hogan himself. So this match in and of itself was truly special, especially in front of such an incredible crowd in Seattle. There were points where the crowd was divided in who to cheer for. The Rock made it so easy to dislike him, but still like him at the same time even as a heel. There was even a point in the match where The Rock put on Stone Cold's vest to mock him and give him a Stunner. The action itself built upon what they had previously done, especially from WrestleMania X-7. The Rock finally conquers his biggest challenge by defeating Stone Cold with Three Rock Bottoms. The count was slow and marked a sad ending. It was a bittersweet moment, because of how their feud shaped the Industry and Pop Culture.

39. Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista (Triple Threat Match for WWE World Heavyweight Title: WrestleMania XXX)
In the opening match, Daniel Bryan overcame Triple H to make the next step toward his dream of wrestling for the WWE Title in WrestleMania. Bryan was deep into his feud with The Authority at this point and was the Beloved Hero of the Anti-Corporate IWC fans. Daniel was needed to help save this match from being a stinker. Dave Batista returned to win the Royal Rumble as he was met with a sea full of Boos from the fans. The fans booed not just because Dave won, but especially because Bryan was not even added to the Rumble Match itself. A simple Batista vs. Randy Orton match would have bombed as the Main Event, especially for the 30th Anniversary of WrestleMania. Daniel was the spark that this match needed. Bryan scratched and clawed in true Underdog fashion. There was even a point in this match where Batista and RKO teamed up to give Daniel a Batista Bomb into an RKO through the announce table. Still, Daniel fought with every ounce of energy in him. In the end, Daniel Bryan realized his dream of becoming WWE Champion as he made DC Dave tap out to the "Yes" Lock. As Bryan celebrated, confetti came down to close the show. This match was WWE's way of rewriting history because it was an obvious recreation of the Triple Threat Match from WrestleMania XX (Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H). Bryan was obviously Benoit, Batista was Triple H and Orton was HBK. It was still the best way to end an Epic 30th Anniversary of The Grandest Show of them All.

38. The Shield vs. Evolution (Payback 2014)
By the Spring of 2014, the Shield broke away from the Authority and established themselves as Vigilantes. However, The Authority would not go down quietly as Triple H reformed Evolution with Randy Orton and Batista. After WrestleMania, Evolution assaulted The Hounds of Justice and mocked them by putting their fists together like the Popular Trio. This would lead to a Six Man Tag Match at Extreme Rules where The Shield would pull the surprise win. However, the Three Future Hall of Famers would assemble for a rematch at Payback. This time, it would be an Elimination Tag Match. At the start of the match, Seth Rollins fights Triple H, Dean Ambrose fights Orton and Roman Reigns fights Batista. The teams would get in the ring for a short time before the brawl spills throughout the arena. Orton attacks Ambrose while Triple H hits Rollins with a TV Monitor. Evolution rips a page out of the Shield's book by performing the Triple Powerbomb on Reigns through the broadcast table. The match would become even more brutal when Batista hit Roman with a Spinebuster as a setup for Evolution to beat Reigns with kendo sticks as he was restrained on the steel steps. Roman would make a comeback as he hit Orton with a Superman Punch, but Triple H answers back by hitting him with a chair. The fight would go to the entrance way, where Rollins leaped off of the Titantron onto Evolution. Reigns would finish up Batista with a Spear, giving Seth Rollins room to eliminate The Animal. Ambrose eliminated Orton with Dirty Deeds on the chair. Triple H was eliminated after he attempted a Pedigree on Roman, but Seth hit him with a Flying High Knee, followed by a Spear from Reigns. The Shield cleaned house as they defeated three World Champions in dominant and convincing fashion. However, this would be the farewell for The Shield as they would break up the next night on RAW thanks to Seth Rollins.

37.  Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio (Mask vs. Title Match for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship: WCW Halloween Havoc 1997)
Rey Mysterio is widely considered to be the Greatest Luchadore of all-time, and the things that he did in his prime are great reasons why. Eddie Guerrero put his Cruiserweight Title on the line for the chance to unmask Mysterio. Rey fought not only to become Cruiserweight Champ, but also for the honor of his mask, as a mask was a symbol of respect in Mexico. The action was incredible and can go down as the Greatest Cruiserweight Match of all-time. It was the Best WCW Match of 1997 as Eddie and Rey were human highlight reels (Dominique Wilkins reference). Eddie and Rey electrified the fans that night and told a great story of Rey fighting for his honor to defeat Eddie to not only win the Title, but to keep his mask. This match had an unbridled passion.

36. Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker (Hell In A Cell for the WWE Championship: No Mercy 2002)
From the time that Brock Lesnar made his debut the night after WrestleMania X-8, he was an Unstoppable Force. Throughout the year, Brock cleaned house and destroyed Legends. From Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, to The Rock, Brock was destroying Legends well before Randall Keith Orton ever called himself the "Legend Killer". However, his next Big test would come at the hands of The Undertaker. After wresting to a no contest at Unforgiven, Smackdown GM Stephanie McMahon ordered Lesnar vs. Undertaker to be a rematch at No Mercy inside of the match that Taker made famous, Hell In A Cell. The match was a bloodbath. First, Undertaker hit Brock with his cast, causing him to bleed. Lesnar would target Taker's injured hand, but the Deadman fought back. After a distraction from Paul Heyman, Undertaker grabbed Heyman by his tie and pulled him into the cell wall, causing him to bleed as well. Lesnar continued to focus on Undertaker's cast, until he was finally able to get it removed. After giving Taker a DDT, Brock went to the outside of the ring. When Undertaker attempted a Suicide Dive, Brock moved out of the way as UT hit the cell wall. Lesnar would then hit Undertaker with the steel steps, causing him to bleed profusely. Lesnar performed the Spinebuster for a near fall. As Undertaker went Old School, Lesnar countered. Undertaker Chokeslammed Brock for a near fall. Brock tried to mock Undertaker with the Last Ride, but it was countered into a Back Body Drop. As UT went for the Last Ride, Brock sent him into the turnbuckle. Brock would then start to Mount Punches, but Taker turned that into a Last Ride. However, Brock put his hand on the rope. The match would come to a close when Undertaker went for the Tombstone Piledriver. Brock would counter it and drill him with the F-5 to retain the WWE Championship. In the end, Brock proved that he could conquer in any environment, as he defeated Undertaker in convincing fashion. This is the most blood that I have ever seen Undertaker shed. This match is not for those with a sensitive stomach.
35. Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior (WWF Championship vs. Intercontinental Championship: WrestleMania VI)
This was "The Ultimate Challenge". Through the mid to late 80's, Hulk Hogan ruled the Wrestling Kingdom with a transcendent reign as WWF Champion that lasted 4 years ('84-'88). Hogan would then reclaim the Title at WrestleMania V when he defeated Macho Man Randy Savage, where he would hold the belt for another year. However, the dawn of the 90's would soon see a shift in Hulk's popularity. On the horizon, there was a younger, more dynamic challenger named The Ultimate Warrior. He had a great physique like Hogan, but slightly more ripped. Warrior had more colors in his ring attire, especially with the face paint. By 1989-90, Ultimate Warrior had rivaled Hogan in popularity. You can even argue that he was more popular than Hogan at that time. Warrior's momentum was like a fireball at that time. With Warrior being seen as the natural successor to the Hulkster, it was only a matter of time before their paths crossed. The fans were divided, because this was the first time two babyfaces would wrestle each other at WrestleMania. On April 1, 1990, the Stars aligned for these two Super Human Wrestlers to battle. In an Epic Clash on The Grandest Stage of them All, Hulk Hogan defended his WWF Championship while Ultimate Warrior defended his Intercontinental Title. This match was truly what I consider the "Test of Strength" Match. It told a classic story as Hogan and Warrior left everything they had in the ring. The Warrior would prevail in what was a pivotal match in his Career as he defeated Hogan to unify the WWF Title and IC Title, becoming the first wrestler to ever do so. This was the proverbial passing of the torch once again.

34. The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan (WrestleMania X-8)
WrestleMania X-8 took place at the Skydome in Toronto, Ontario Canada, the same place where Hulk Hogan clashed with The Ultimate Warrior 12 years earlier for the "Ultimate Challenge". However, Hogan was a heel at this point as he was "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan leading the NWO. The Rock was at the top of his game, headlining his fourth straight WrestleMania. When it comes to the fans in Toronto, they still supported Hogan even though he was the villain, because they remembered the impact that he left on them during his prime. Fans in Canada will still cheer someone even when they are a heel. It worked for Bret Hart, it worked for Edge and it even worked for Hogan. Much like the match with Warrior, Hogan would be in the position to pass the torch. This time, it was "Icon vs. Icon". Hulk was the Icon of the The Golden Era of the 80's, while The Rock was the Icon from the Attitude Era. The fans welcomed Hulk to a hero's welcome, because they believed that he could find his way back after falling to the vices of "Hollywood". They still saw the good in Hogan the same way that Luke Skywalker saw the good in Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. Meanwhile, The Rock was met with boos when he walked to the ring. Still, The People's Champ electrified the Millions AND Millions of fans around the world, including the record-breaking 68,237 fans in the Skydome as he went toe to toe with the beloved Sports-Entertainment Legend. This match was so historic and epic that it made the Undisputed Championship Match an Afterthought. Rock and Hogan had the crowd right in their hands. The Young Lion defeated the Older Lion as The Great One defeated The Hulkster. After the match, the NWO attacked Hogan, but The Rock returned to the ring to clean house. This was the moment where Hogan regained his confidence and his place as the WrestleMania Immortal that he was meant to be.

33. Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle (WWE Championship: WrestleMania XIX)
The matchup of Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle was a result of perfect casting. Both have backgrounds as accomplished amateur wrestlers. However, Brock Lesnar's greatest strength was his power and athleticism. Meanwhile, Kurt Angle's greatest strength was his technical wrestling prowess and speed advantage. Angle knew that he could not overpower the Beast, so he made sure that he could outsmart him with his technique and submission advantage. The match started with mat wrestling. However, Brock poured out his pure strength to wear down the Olympic Gold Legend. This was a match that would prove to be the best Title Match of the night and the defining match of their rivalry. In a match that saw The Rock vs. Austin III, and Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle was a match that managed to not only stand out, but was even better than those matches themselves. That speaks volumes of not only the PPV itself, but of the match quality that Kurt and Brock delivered. The match was almost doomed when Lesnar botched a Shooting Star Press that he would never live down. However, The Beast recovered to defeat Angle with an F-5 to become the new WWE Champion.

32. Edge vs. John Cena (TLC Match for the WWE Championship: Unforgiven 2006)
The stakes for this match were very high. By this point, John Cena and Edge were at the peak of their rivalry. Since Edge was the WWE Champion, he was able to choose the match stipulation. Not only was Unforgiven in his hometown of Toronto, Canada, but the match would also be a match that Edge made Legendary: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. If Cena lost, he would have to leave RAW. Even with the odds stacked against him, The Captain of CENAtion found a way to pull off one of his greatest upsets of his career in front of a crowd that chanted "Cena Sucks" throughout the match. Edge is a Legend in Toronto, regardless of the fact that he was a heel at the time. Canada has always been Bizzaro World in Wrestling (look at Bret Hart in 1997). Edge showed why he was the King of the TLC Matches with the way that he operated on Cena during this match. However, John managed to raise his game even in an environment that he was not very familiar with. The Exclamation Point came when Cena gave Edge the Attitude Adjustment off of the top of the Ladder through two stacked tables. Cena would then grab the WWE Title and reclaim his place on the throne of the WWE.

31. "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair (WWF Championship: WrestleMania VIII)
Naturally, Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair was destined to be a great match on paper because of their reputations as great workers in the ring. However, this match would take a dramatic turn as Flair claimed that he had a previous relationship with Miss Elizabeth before she met Savage. The Nature Boy and Mr. Perfect went so far as to provide altered photos to WWE Magazine long before Photoshop and TMZ were even thought of. Flair's gameplan was to get Savage distracted so much to the point that he would lose focus and get to disqualified and fail to win the WWF Championship. "Macho Man" lived up to his name as a savage by beating and bloodying Flair on his way to reclaim the WWF Title.
30. Sting vs. Ric Flair (NWA Championship: Clash of the Champions I)
At the very first Clash of the Champions, Ric Flair was out to teach Sting a lesson. Sting was a maverick with bleach blonde hair and face paint that was rising in popularity (Sounds familiar right? Ex: Ultimate Warrior). In what would be the first match between two of WCW's cornerstones, Ric Flair brought the very best out of Sting. The Stinger was on fire in this match as he and the Nature Boy wrestled to a Draw. This is considered Sting's breakout match, as this is what truly put him on the map.

29. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit (WWF Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match: Royal Rumble 2001)
Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho would be forever linked to each other as their rivalry started as far back as their time in Japan. However, their feud reached a new level in the WWF, especially over the Intercontinental Championship. For much of their feud, Benoit had gotten the better of Y2J. The ultimate way to settle this was in a Ladder Match for the IC Title. This match had a different twist compared to previous Ladder Matches. Instead of using the Ladder for huge spots like Shawn vs. Razor, Y2J and Benoit wanted to wear each other down before climbing the Ladder. There were high spots in between, like Jericho's missile dropkick as Benoit held the Ladder. The highlight of this match was when Jericho gave Benoit the Walls of Jericho on the Ladder. Y2J would recapture the Intercontinental Championship in arguably the match of the night besides the Rumble itself.

28. Eddie Guerrero vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE Championship: No Way Out 2004)
At this stage of his Career, Eddie Guerrero was on a comeback as he was overcoming his personal demons. After winning the US and Tag Titles, there was one prize that was greater than them all, the WWE Championship. The biggest obstacle in Eddie's way was The Beast himself and the Current Mayor of Suplex City, Brock Lesnar. No matter how much Lesnar threw his past in his face, Eddie was determined to reach his destiny. People talk about Daniel Bryan, but this was the Ultimate Underdog story. This match defined the Underdog story of wrestling. It had great passion and dramatic storytelling, along with desire and determination. That pretty much explains Eddie Guerrero. Wrestling is also about dragons and dragon slayers. Brock Lesnar was the Dragon and Eddie Guerrero was ready to slay the Dragon. Brock was already physically superior, as he was bigger, stronger, meaner, younger and tougher than Eddie. For a man his size, Lesnar was no slouch in speed either. Brock was an absolute monster in this match, as he rag dolled Eddie from left to right with suplexes, while also nearly squeezing the life out of him with holds to wear him out. Still, Eddie's will would not let him give up. It became a battle of wills, Brock's will versus Eddie's will. Eddie picks his spots by targeting Brock's legs, but Lesnar would not give in. Suddenly, things take a turn when Brock goes for the F-5, but Eddie's feet knock the referee down. With the ref out, Goldberg interferes and Spears Lesnar like he did earlier. Even with Goldberg's Spear, Eddie still has to fight this monster on his own. Brock goes for another F-5, but Eddie counters it into a Tornado DDT on the Title before flying through the air with the Frog Splash for the three count. Eddie Guerrero conquered his demons by slaying the Monster known as Brock Lesnar to claim the WWE Championship. The greatest tribulations immediately precede the greatest triumphs and this match was the perfect example. This is the most significant match of Eddie Guerrero's Career.

27. John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels (RAW, April 23, 2007)
After a great WWE Championship Match at WrestleMania 23, Shawn Michaels wanted to prove to John Cena, the World and especially himself that he could beat Cena. However, this was not for the WWE Championship. Instead, it was to ease Shawn's piece of mind. Cena and Michaels put together a 5-Star Classic live on Monday Night RAW in front of the London crowd. The detail and psychology in this match were top notch, as they were going into the Fatal Four Way Match at Backlash that included Edge and Randy Orton. This match exceeded their Mania Match, which says something. This match went the distance as it went nearly 60 minutes, as you can tell by the way that they wore each other down. With the last ounce of energy, HBK pulls out the win with a last ditch Sweet Chin Music to put Cena down for the three count.

26. 1992 Royal Rumble Match for the WWF Championship
The 1992 Royal Rumble had the Perfect Ingredients to be the Ultimate Rumble, and it was. With WCW Transplants like Ric Flair and Sid Justice mixed with WWF Mainstays like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Roddy Piper and emerging stars like The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. To add to the excitement, the vacated WWF Championship was on the line for the first time (the second time was 2016). Ric Flair was the most despised wrestler in the match as he proclaimed to be the "Real World's Champion". Flair proved himself and begrudgingly earned the respect of the fans by entering at No. 3, and surviving the 30-Man Rumble. Ric was part of the Final Four, along with Savage, Sid and Hogan. As Hogan was eliminated, the fans cheered. Meanwhile, the Final Elimination came when Flair dumped Sid over the top rope to become the new WWF Champion.

25. Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels (World Heavyweight Championship: No Mercy 2008)
By 2008, Chris Jericho was white hot as a heel. He completely transformed himself, from a character standpoint to an image standpoint as well. At this point, he also reignited his feud with Shawn Michaels. Going into No Mercy, Jericho was the World Heavyweight Champion, and HBK challenged him to a match that both of them are famous for, a Ladder Match. By this point in their careers, they changed their approach to a Ladder Match. Shawn was in his 40's, and Chris was knocking on the door. Instead of the Classic Crash and Burn HBK Formula, this Ladder Match was all about psychology and methodology. Y2J and HBK paced themselves very well while telling the story that needed to be told. This match was the high point of their entire feud. The match was hard hitting, but still methodical at the same time. In the end, Y2J and HBK were hanging onto the WHC. However, Jericho was able to literally swing the match in his favor as he gave Michaels a headbutt to knock him off. Y2J would pull the title down to remain the World Heavyweight Champion. At that time, Chris Jericho truly was The Best In The World at What He Did. This perfectly sums up Chris Jericho's character: No Games, and just Ruthless.

24. Kevin Owens vs. John Cena (Champion vs. Champion: Elimination Chamber 2015)
After winning the United States Championship, John Cena proudly issued challenges to whoever was willing to accept. Cena took on all comers. However, Cena's US Title Invitational was put on hold thanks to Ring Of Honor Transplant, Kevin Owens (formerly Kevin Steen). Kevin was the reigning NXT Champion when he joined the Main Roster. Owens called out Cena and wanted to prove that he could beat him. Another Indie Legend Challenging the Prototypical Company Star John Cena to make a name for themselves. Their first encounter would take place at the Elimination Chamber in a Champion vs. Champion match with no title on the line. During the match, Cena attempted the Attitude Adjustment, but Owens countered for a Pop-Up Powerbomb for a near fall. KO would mock Cena saying "You Can't See Me" but Cena applied the STFU, which Owens escaped from. Kevin Owens ripped a page straight out of Cena's book as he gave Cena his own Finisher, The Attitude Adjustment. However, Cena would kick out at two so that he would avoid the embarrassment of losing from his own Finishing Maneuver. Cena gave Owens a Clothesline, but when he missed another one, KO executed his second Pop-Up Powerbomb for the win. This was a huge feather in the cap for Kevin Owens, as he proved that he could not only hang with the best, but beat the best. They had two other great matches, but this stands out the most because of how unique it was to see Owens win.

23. Undertaker vs. Triple H ("End of An Era" Hell In A Cell w/Shawn Michaels as Special Referee: WrestleMania XXVIII)
After a barbaric match at WrestleMania XXVII, The Undertaker and Triple H would decide to have a rematch. Taker did not want things to end like they did at WM 27 where he had to be carted out of the ring. The Game wanted another shot at The Deadman's Streak. Another twist was created when Shawn Michaels was named the Special Guest Referee. This match was declared the "End of An Era". This was The Cerebral Assassin's third attempt to break Undertaker's Streak. This War is ranked among the most emotionally intense matches of all-time. Hell In A Cell was the perfect battleground to hold the chaos and carnage that they would inflict on each other at WrestleMania. The Game used everything he could to put Taker down, from steel chairs, ring steps and multiple Pedigrees. HBK even gave Taker Sweet Chin Music to lead into one of Hunter's Pedigrees. However, the Deadman would not give up. Undertaker was not as worn down as he was the previous WrestleMania, because this match was his element. The Phenom would ultimately put Triple H away with The Tombstone Piledriver as a teary eyed Shawn Michaels made the three count, extending The Streak to a Perfect 20-0. The ending was great as all three Icons embraced each other at the ramp as they would leave together.

22. Undertaker vs. Edge (Hell In A Cell: Summerslam 2008)
Throughout 2008, The Undertaker and Edge had a rivalry that carried the Smackdown Brand. It was a Signature feud for both of their storied careers. For much of the year, Edge and Taker exchanged the World Heavyweight Title. However, The Ultimate Opportunist constantly had allies in his corner. From Vickie Guerrero, to Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. The Rated R Superstar got the upper hand with his win over the Deadman at One Night Stand in his specialty of Tables, Ladders and Chairs (TLC). The Ultimate Way to end their feud was inside The Phenom's Lair of Hell In A Cell at Summerslam. Undertaker was reinstated by Vickie after she caught Edge cheating. So, this was retribution both for her and Taker. With that aside, this was the last Great HIAC Match that WWE would have in a long time. Brock vs. Undertaker was great, but not like this. Early in the match, Edge and Taker both used Steel Stairs. Edge would then introduce his favorite weapons of choice: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. Edge put Taker through the table with a Chair assisted Elbow Drop. Undertaker would have the upper hand until Edge speared him through a cell panel, causing both of them to fall outside near the announce tables. Edge would give Undertaker another Spear through the broadcast table. When they went back into the ring, Edge gave Taker a third Spear, but only for a near fall. As Edge attempted Old School, Undertaker countered and gave him a Chokeslam through the two tables that were set up at ringside. The Phenom finished the match off by giving Edge a taste of his own medicine with a Spear and Con-Chair-To before drilling him with the Tombstone Piledriver for the win. After the match, Undertaker would leave the ring, but returned when he saw Edge moving on the Titantron. To finish him off, The Deadman returned to give him a Chokeslam off the top of the Ladder and through the center of the ring. That was the finale of the Undertaker vs. Edge feud.

21. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (WrestleMania X)
The Classic tale of sibling rivalry. Big Brother vs. Little Brother. Going into WrestleMania, Bret Hart had two thorns in his side. One was the nearly 600 lb WWF Champion Yokozuna (Massive Thorn). On the other hand, Bret had to deal with his younger brother Owen. Bret did not want to fight his brother. Meanwhile, Owen wanted to prove himself by stepping out of his older brother's shadow to make his own name. The seeds were planted at Survivor Series 1993 when there was friction among them during their match against Shawn Michaels and his team. Things got even worse at the 1994 Royal Rumble when Owen kicked Bret in his injured leg after their tag match. The stage was set for WM X. This is the greatest opening match not just in WrestleMania History, but in WWE History overall. Coming from the Hart Family, the expectations were very high and they delivered. Naturally, they were already two of the best in-ring performers outside of HBK. It was a great technical exhibit. However, in true underdog fashion, Owen pulls out the upset over his Older Brother. Jerry Lawler said it best "Owen didn't step out of Bret's shadow, he jumped out it.".

100. Bruno Sammartino vs. Pedro Morales (WWWF Championship: Showdown at Shea Stadium, Sept. 30, 1972)
Showdown at Shea was the WrestleMania BEFORE WrestleMania ever existed. It was the Original Supercard of Wrestling. For years, Bruno Sammartino had been the biggest star of the WWWF, but Pedro Morales was on his trail by 1972. Their match drew 22,000 fans to Shea Stadium. During that time, it was rare for two babyfaces to collide in the squared circle. These two legends of their Era wrestled to a draw at 65-minutes. This show was the Precursor to what we know now as the Pay Per View.

99. Randy Orton vs. Christian (Summerslam 2011)
Four months earlier, Edge retired because of injuries. As a result, he had to forfeit the World Heavyweight Title. Christian would later become Champion as a way to pay tribute to his best friend ever. Fans were generally happy because Christian was a longtime veteran who was mainly seen as Edge's sidekick. Not soon afterward, Orton would reemerge to defeat Christian for the Title. Christian had the support of Edge and the fans at first, until he used heel tactics to win the title. The roles reversed as Randy would become the babyface. Regardless of who was face or heel, Christian and Randy proved to have great chemistry in the ring. Their matches were among the most noteworthy for Smackdown in 2011. The Viper would walk out of Summerslam victorious to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

98. CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan (WWE Championship: WWE Over The Limit 2012
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are regarded by many as the Greatest Stars that the Independent Circuit has ever produced. Both were well renowned among the "Internet" crowd as their grassroots following continued into WWE. By this point, Punk was the reigning WWE Champion, while Bryan just lost the World Heavyweight Title to Sheamus in the famous 18 second match at WrestleMania XXVIII. Daniel would also lose the rematch to the Celtic Warrior in a 2/3 Falls Match at Extreme Rules match. Bryan's fortunes would change when he clashed with fellow Ring of Honor Alum CM Punk. It was a true testament of greatness to both ROH Stars that the WWE Championship revolved around them during the Summer of 2012. CM Punk proved that he could not only have great matches with the likes of John Cena, Jeff Hardy, Triple H and Undertaker, but he could also deliver a great technical match with a fellow ring general like Daniel Bryan. For those that are enthusiasts about technical wrestling, this is a great treat. Punk would retain the title in a show stealing match. This storyline also introduced AJ Lee, as she would play a huge role in the culmination of their feud.

97. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Dude Love: Over The Edge 1998
After winning the WWF Championship from Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIV, it seemed as if Stone Cold Steve Austin would not have a great feud to initially start off his run as Champion. That was until Mick Foley transformed from Cactus Jack to Dude Love and interrupted Austin's "Match" with Vince McMahon. Instead of giving Vince the Mandible Claw, Dude turned around and gave it to Austin. Interestingly enough, Dude Love was also the replacement for Shawn Michaels when it came to being Stone Cold's tag team partner. They were good partners but better rivals. Their match at Over The Edge was the culmination of their feud as it personified The Attitude Era. It was a pure street fight from start to finish. As Foley would say "It was wild for all the right reasons". The biggest twist in the match was Vince McMahon himself as the Referee, along with the involvement of Vince's stooges, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. The Officiating was shady until The Undertaker got involved in the chaos. The Texas Rattlesnake would put the nail in the coffin with a Stunner while using Vince's lifeless arm to make the three count.

96. Trish Stratus vs. Lita (WWE Women's Championship: Unforgiven 2006)
When it comes to Women Wrestlers at the Dawn of the New Millennium, Trish Stratus and Lita were the Top Flagbearers (Besides Chyna). Trish vs. Lita was the Female Equivalent of Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels. Trish was Bret and Lita was HBK. They carried the torch for Women very well going from the Attitude Era into the Ruthless Aggression Era. It is a testament to their greatness anytime Women can Main Event RAW. They opened the door for the likes of Natalya, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, AJ Lee and others. That is why it was fitting for Trish to have the Final Match of her Career against her Arch Rival in her Hometown of Toronto, Ontario Canada. Trish would defeat Lita with the Sharpshooter and ride off into the Sunset on Top.

95. CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy (World Heavyweight Championship: Summerslam 2009)
In 2009, CM Punk and Jeff Hardy had a very heated and personal rivalry. Punk took shots at Jeff's personal demons and drug problems in his promos. At Night of Champions, Punk lost the title to Hardy. The feud would continue going into Summerslam. On this night, CM Punk and Jeff Hardy clashed in a TLC Match for the WHC. The best element to add to this match was the difference in ideals. Punk was Straight Edge and Self-Righteous, while Jeff was Extreme and Live for the Moment. Punk would emerge as the winner and new World Heavyweight Champion. This match was the right Main Event because it absolutely stole the show, as it was also the pinnacle of the feud. After the match, CM Punk would be attacked by The Undertaker.

94. "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Diamond Dallas Page (Spring Stampede 1997)
Spring Stampede 1997 was the high point for what was the Feud of the Year in WCW during 1997. Savage was at his most intense and unhinged state at that time, while DDP was at his most resilient. This match had everything you wanted in a brawl, especially when it came to weapons (chair, trash cans, etc). They brought the fight to each other. It was the hardest working man in WCW (DDP) vs. the most insane man in WCW (Savage), and they held nothing back.

93. Hulk Hogan vs Iron Sheik (WWF Championship Madison Square Garden 1/23/1984)
The Iron Sheik kicked off the New Year by ending the 5-year WWF Title Reign of Bob Backlund with the Camel Clutch (along with Arnold Skaaland throwing in the towel). With Backlund's injuries, wrestling needed a new American Hero. Enter Hulk Hogan. Hulk had just left AWA to return to WWF but under new ownership. The Hulkster was the hot new star that Vince McMahon Jr would pin his hopes on to be the Future of Wrestling. Vince Jr made the investment and it paid off. Hogan would challenge Sheik for the Title with Bob's endorsement. On January 23, 1984, Hulk Hogan would battle the Iron Sheik in Madison Square Garden for the WWF Championship. Hogan was on fire during this match, as Iron Sheik could not handle him. The Hulkster ran wild that night. Hogan powered out of the Camel Clutch before nailing Sheik with the Big Boot and The Leg Drop for the 1,2,3. This match is significant because it launched the Phenomenon known as "Hulkamania". It would mark the start of Hogan's 4-year Reign as WWF Champion. This was the starting point to a journey that took wrestling to incredible new heights. The rest is history.

92. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks (NXT Women's Championship, NXT Takeover: Brooklyn)
Since NXT has exploded in popularity and quality of talent, the Women's Division has made a comeback. The Leaders of the new "Divas Revolution" in WWE have been the "Four Horsewomen" (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch). In NXT, the Top feud among the Women was between Sasha and Bayley. They set a new standard for Women's Wrestling not just among modern wrestling, but also of all-time, well before they have even started to decorate their resumes. NXT Takeover: Brooklyn has been considered to be critically better than the Summerslam PPV the following night. The card itself for NXT was great, but the match that carried that event was Sasha vs. Bayley for the Women's Championship. It was Bayley's will and determination as the Underdog vs Sasha's arrogance as the Champion. Sasha constantly targeted the arm just in time for the Bank Statement. However, Bayley's aggressiveness won out in the end as she defeated Sasha with the Bayley to Back Suplex to become the new NXT Women's Champion. The other Horsewomen (Charlotte, Becky) joined them to celebrate.

91. Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant (WWF Championship, WrestleMania III)
The Irresistable Force vs. The Immovable Object. This match has been apart of wrestling lore and mythology for nearly 30 years. Two of the figure heads of wrestling for their time. Andre The Giant during the 70's was the symbol of wrestling all around the World going into the early 80's. Hogan would take the torch and run even further in the 80's. Andre the Giant was "Undefeated" for 15 years leading up to this point. However, there was one prize that had eluded him during his winning streak, the World Title. His good friend Hulk Hogan sat on the throne as WWF Champion. Filled with inner frustration and jealousy, Andre joined Bobby "The Brain" Heenan in the Mission to dethrone Hogan. The frustration reached it's fever pitch at WrestleMania III as two of the Biggest Titans of their Time collided. While the match is not as aesthetically pleasing as Savage vs Steamboat was earlier that night, this match was the Top Draw of the PPV. Hogan vs Andre was a Spectacle of Monumental Proportions. The Defining Moment of the Match was the Slam Heard Around The World, as the Hulkster used every ounce of strength to pick up the 525 lb Giant to Bodyslam him before Finishing him off with The Leg Drop as the Exclamation Point. This match was the Official Confirmation that the Torch had been Passed for the first time in WrestleMania History. This was Super Hogan at his Apex.

90. Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch (Triple Threat Women's Championship Match: WrestleMania 32)

In July of 2015, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch were all brought to the Main Roster as they were announced by Stephanie McMahon on RAW. This would be considered the start of the "Women's Revolution" in wrestling, as they would soon carry the Women's Division on their shoulders. Charlotte would defeat Nikki Bella to end her reign as Diva's Champion, soon ending the Era of the Divas. At WrestleMania 32, Lita unveiled the new Women's Championship, as Charlotte, Sasha and Becky would compete in a Triple Threat Match to crown the new Champion. Charlotte had the Diva's Title as well as the help of her Legendary Father Ric Flair. This match was the perfect storm of the top three figureheads of the Women's Division. Sasha even made a tribute to Eddie Guerrero with the design of her tights as well as her Frog Splash. The Chemistry between these women was excellent. The ending of the match saw Becky Lynch give Charlotte a fisherman suplex from the top rope. Charlotte would then roll to the floor, which opened the door for Sasha Banks to apply the Bank Statement on Becky. However, Charlotte returned just in time to throw Sasha out of the ring so that she could lock the Figure-Eight Leg Lock on Lynch. Meanwhile, Ric Flair distracted Charlotte from getting back in the ring. During that time, Charlotte made Becky submit to the Figure-Eight to become the Inaugural Women's Champion.

89. Chris Jericho vs Rey Mysterio (IC Title Match: The Bash 2009)
Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio enjoyed great matches dating back to their time in WCW over the Cruiserweight Championship. However, they had never established a true rivalry until 2009. By this point, Jericho was at his Best as an Arrogant Heel that wore suits and insulted fans with big words. He was obsessed with taking off Rey Mysterio's mask. Not only was the Mask the focal point of the feud, but so was the Intercontinental Title (similar to Rey vs. Eddie in WCW). This personal element is what added to an already spectacular match on paper. They turned back the clock a Decade and put on a match that is a classic in both of their match libraries. Jericho accomplished both of his goals of unmasking Mysterio and winning back the Intercontinental Championship.

88. Money In the Bank Ladder Match (WrestleMania 21)
These days, Money In The Bank has become a staple in WWE. Arguably, it has taken the place of Survivor Series, because we have been treated to many good to great MITB Matches and Cash-Ins. However, nothing compares to the Original, which took place at WrestleMania 21. The Concept of Winning a Briefcase to become Number 1 Contender for a World Title originated with names like Edge, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, Christian, and Kane. Shelton Benjamin set the standard of creativity for MITB in this match. Ultimately, it was only fitting that The Ultimate Oppoortunist Edge would seize the briefcase and set the path to becoming a Main Event Star and Perennial World Champion.

87. Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair (Career Threatening Match: WrestleMania XXIV)
Student vs. Teacher. Shawn Michaels grew up watching Ric Flair and wanted to be like him. HBK used elements of Flair's character and added his own twist. When it comes to great in-ring performers and showmen, you can say that Shawn was Ric's successor in the 90's. That is why it only made sense for Flair to end his Career with the Man that not only admired him, but the same Man that is forever Synonymous with WrestleMania. That would be none other than "Mr. WrestleMania" Shawn Michaels. This was the match that told the Greatest Story of them all that night. Shawn went from being the kid in San Antonio that wanted to be like Flair to sending his hero into Retirement. This was the best match that Flair had during his run in the 2000's. Michaels put the Nail in Flair's Coffin with an "I'm Sorry, I Love You" Sweet Chin Music for the victory.

86. Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena (WWE Championship: Summerslam 2014)
Coming fresh off of Breaking The Undertaker's Iconic and Mythic WrestleMania Streak, Brock Lesnar was a natural choice to be the Number 1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Following the injury of Daniel Bryan, the WWE Title was Vacated for a Six-Man Ladder Match at Money In The Bank. John Cena won the vacated WWE Title and became a 15-time World Champion. The Stage was set to take on The Beast of Suplex City at Summerslam. Brock decimated and annihilated Cena. It looks like John took Daniel's place as Lesnar's punching bag. Brock unleashed a Flurry of 16 German Suplexes. Cena put up very little Offense in this match, but it was nothing against Terminator Brock. Super Cena's Kryptonite is clearly a German Suplex, and Lesnar was Doomsday. After 16 German Suplexes and 2 F-5's, Brock Lesnar was the new WWE Champion. This is an all-time classic just for how Lesnar dominated Cena throughout the match. This was the best way to make up for the match at Extreme Rules 2012. Doomsday Lesnar Conquered Superman Cena.

85. Triple H vs. Chris Jericho (Last Man Standing Match: Fully Loaded 2000)
By 2000, Triple H was Truly at the Top of his Game (pun intended). The Game was at his Best as the Quintessential Villain of Wrestling. He was the Ultimate Heel that made you despise him. Coming off of a great run as WWF Champion, The Game was firing on all cylinders. On the other hand, his latest rival Chris Jericho was in a transitional phase of his Career. The transplant from WCW had established himself as a world-class ring technician with a flair for great promos, but lacked the hard edge that fans were looking for. That was, until he went toe to toe with Triple H. The same way that Trips displayed his aggressive side against Mick Foley, Y2J showed his resilience against The Cerebral Assassin in a Last Man Standing Match at No Mercy. Since Jericho enjoys using "Spinal Tap" and other Rock references, he turned his Intensity up to 11 with his combination of fists and chair shots. Jericho took everything that Triple H threw at him and he still kept going until the end. The Game won, but Jericho made a statement that he could hang with the very best in the Main Event during the Attitude Era.

84. Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville (NXT Takeover: R: Evolution)
Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville took NXT to another level with their match at Takeover R:Evolution. The Card itself was already great, but this match is what carried the show and put that year's "Hell In A Cell" PPV to shame. Zayn vs. Neville was a Career vs. Title Match for the NXT Championship. This match had the classic high-flying, and intensity that kept fans hooked on their every movement. Sami fought with a passion and never say die attitude. The storytelling was very accurate as Zayn gave his all in this match, as did Neville. Sami threw everything at Neville, from the Blue Thunder Bomb, to the Exploder Suplex to finally the Helluva Kick to finish off his opponent to save his Career and win the NXT Title. After the match, the NXT Roster came out to celebrate a match that will live on in NXT History. During the Celebration, Kevin Owens came out to congratulate his long time friend/rival Sami Zayn. However, the celebration was short lived as Owens attacked Zayn and gave him a Powerbomb on the apron as the show ended.

83. Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor (NXT Championship, Beast in the East)
The WWE Network Exclusive Special "Beast In The East" took place on the 4th of July in Tokyo, Japan. Brock Lesnar was the Main Attraction, but the match that was the highlight of the day was Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor for the NXT Championship. Owens was the vicious heel Champion that did not care about tradition as he threw the bouquet of flowers out of the ring before the match started. Balor was a major star in NJPW, so this was a homecoming for him in a sense. KO trolled John Cena by using the Five Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment. Kevin also copied Cena's "You Can't See Me" by telling Finn "You Can't Beat Me". Owens brought the intensity with his physicality, but Balor did not give up. Finn countered the Pop-Up Powerbomb with a lariat. After taking down the Champ with two Dropkicks, Balor finished the match with the Coup De Grace (Top Rope Double Stomp) for the win and the NXT Championship.

82. Triple H vs. The Rock (Ladder Match for WWF Intercontinental Championship, Summerslam 1998)
After WrestleMania XIV, there was a changing of the guard for two of the Best Factions in the WWF. The Rock became the Leader of the Nation of Domination, while Triple H became the Leader of D-Generation-X. From that point, DX and NOD feuded like Gangs fighting over Territory. It was a War that became one of the highlights of the Attitude Era next to Austin 3:16. The Alpha Male Leaders of each group feuded over the second richest prize in the company, the Intercontinental Title. They settled their feud in a Ladder Match for the IC Title at Summerslam. This was not the atypical Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon Ladder Match where you had the High-Flying Acrobatics of HBK vs the Power and Aggressiveness of Razor. Instead, you had two warriors who were identical in size and strength. It was a pure brawl that included a Ladder. Their personal hatred was on display in this match. The Fans could feel the Story that they told. Helmsley would defeat The Brahma Bull thanks to a Low Blow from Chyna to become the new IC Champion.

81. Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude (30-Minute Ironman Challenge: Beach Blast 1992)
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and "Ravishing" Rick Rude battled each other in one of the greatest tests of stamina in all of wrestling: an Ironman Match. However, instead of going the full Hour like Flair vs. Steamboat (Clash of Champions VI) and Bret vs. HBK (WrestleMania XII), Steamboat and Rude went for half an Hour. Ravishing Rick had the advantage planned out, as he tried to gain a 3-1 lead in the first ten minutes of the match to make things out of reach. Steamboat had other plans in mind, with his will to win as he tied the match at 3-3 with ten minutes left. After reversing a sleeper hold into a pin, Steamboat took the lead and the win as time expired.

Seth Rollins: Redesign, Rebuild, Reclaim

Out of the many returns post WrestleMania, the return of Seth Rollins is the one that I have been the most excited about. Recently, WWE did their 24 Special on Seth's road to recover as it was appropriately named "Redesign, Rebuild, Reclaim". It was a behind the scenes look into Seth's journey to recovery. His peers from AJ Styles, Kevin Owens to Sami Zayn were all amazed at how exceptional Seth is as a performer. Styles mentioned the story of when he wrestled Rollins 10 years ago. At that time, he knew that Seth would be a big deal. Even though he is a heel, I felt bad not seeing him around for so long. Seth's injury was so severe that he obviously missed out on WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, TX (a record breaking crowd of 101,763). In the special, you can tell that it was eating away as Rollins himself let everyone know. It is sad for anyone who is a top star to lose their momentum with one bad injury. John Cena gave encouragement by saying that Seth will not have to worry about missing WrestleMania like that anymore. He said that Rollins  has many more WrestleManias ahead of him. Cena is right. The footage was tough to watch. Seth's motto is "Redesign, Rebuild, Reclaim". In a way, Seth also said it was needed so that he could regroup and appreciate what he already had. Rollins is on a mission to Redesign who he is as a performer. It is time for him to Rebuild that which was broken as he is out to Reclaim the WWE Championship that he did not lose by pinfall or submission. He was the Undisputed MVP last year. Not only was Seth "Superstar of the Year" but he was also the PWI "Wrestler of the Year" as well as "Most Hated Wrestler of the Year". This past week also marked two years since the Shield disbanded. In the aftermath, no one expected Seth to break out the way that he did.

As we quickly approach "Money In the Bank", let's look forward to finally having the chance to see Seth and Roman start the war we have been waiting for. I'm looking forward to big things from Rollins as I expect to see The Architect build something even greater than what he built over the past two years.

2015 Year End Awards (Wrestling)

Welcome to 2016. I hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays and kicked off the New Year strong. Now is the time to present my Awards for the previous year. This is a tradition that I started last year, and I would like to continue by once again recognizing the wrestlers that stood out the most. My criteria is still the same as before:

Consistency
Match Quality
Storyline Quality
Innovation
Rivalry Chemistry

Diva (s) of the Year: Nikki Bella/Sasha Banks
This may not be the most popular choice, but Nikki gets the award for Diva of the Year. However, this was not as convincing of a choice as Paige last year. Nikki's biggest claim to fame is the fact that she broke AJ Lee's record for longest Title reign as Diva's Champion. Of course, the biggest criticism of her is the fact that she was only the champion because of the following reasons:

1. AJ Lee retiring
2. Relationship with John Cena
3. Ratings for Total Divas

Nikki has improved very much in the ring compared to where she was before, but that is not saying much. She is still leagues behind female legends like Trish Stratus, Lita, Madusa, Sherri Martel, etc to contemporaries like Natalya, Paige, Sasha Banks and AJ herself. In the long term, I think Nikki will just be seen as a placeholder Champion with not much to offer. However, she was the most consistent due to her run as champion in a fledgling Divas Division and a failed "Divas Revolution". The standards have not been high for the Divas to begin with lately, and Nikki was pretty much all that they could offer from a Main Roster standpoint.

This award was tough, but I have to call it a tie as Sasha Banks was the female MVP for NXT. Sasha proved night in and night out that she was truly the Boss. Banks carried the NXT Women's Title with respect and her own personal swagger. The Boss knew how to bring it as NXT Women's Champion. The highlights of her time in NXT were here matches with the likes of Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Bayley. Their match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn is considered by many to be the best Women's match ever, or at least in the Top 5 somewhere. Sasha won in epic fashion. This match put the "Divas" to shame as it was typical Wrestling 101 for Women. They followed that with the Ironman/Ironwoman Match at NXT Takeover Respect with Bayley winning in Sasha's NXT farewell. Both of these matches have become modern day classics as they add to Sasha's NXT legacy.

Tag Team of the Year: New Day

This was clearly the best choice hands down. Ever since the USO's stepped away due to injury, the New Day has carried the Tag Team Division. They are truly the ultimate entertainers on the Main Roster of WWE. Initially, this was looked at as a joke, but they struck gold with this gimmick. This has been a great vehicle for them to not only showcase how entertaining they really are, but it is a great boost to each of their careers. Their segments have been excellent, and they have been able to back up their words with their work in the ring. By nature, the New Day are heels but their comedic timing keeps the fans from truly hating them. Even though they chant "New Day Sucks", this team continues to prove that "New Day Rocks". The biggest feather in their hat has been their victory over the Legendary Dudley Boyz. Don't be sour.

Dominating Performance of the Year: Brock Lesnar destroys New Day at Beast in the East

What else needs to be said? Brock Lesnar doing what he does best. Arrive, Destroy, Leave, Repeat. WWE held their exclusive Network Event "Beast In the East" live in Japan on the 4th of July at 5 am. I did not wake up that early, but I caught the repeat. Brock Lesnar was the marquee attraction as he was heavily advertised in the promotional photos. Lesnar destroyed Kofi Kingston almost like King Kong Bundy destroying S.D. Jones at the first WrestleMania. after defeating Kingston in easy fashion, Lesnar wiped the ring with Big E and Xavier Woods as he left a trail of destruction in the ring.

Surprise of the Year: Seth Rollins cashing in at WrestleMania

Seth Rollins turned heads and created the much needed headlines for WrestleMania as he cashed in the MITB Briefcase to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Rollins ran in to cash in the Briefcase as he focused on Roman Reigns. Seth cashing in at Mania is what helped save an otherwise middle of the pack WrestleMania and making it a headline success. Even though Seth had the briefcase, nobody expected WWE to pull the trigger for him to cash in on the Grandest Stage of them all.

Inspirational Wrestler of the Year: John Cena
This may not seem like the popular vote among the IWC, but John Cena has been a huge inspiration just from this year alone. From the time that he reclaimed the US Championship from Rusev at WrestleMania, John has not disappointed. The way that Cena has elevated the value of the United States Championship while raising the bar for younger talent (ex: Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins). Cena's status as champion has done miracles for that title. In fact, one can make the case that this has been Cena's best year when it comes to in-ring work. From his series of matches with Rusev, Kevin Owens, Rollins and even Cesaro, John has stepped up to the plate from one match after another. John is an inspiration simply from the way that he rises above his lifetime critics in the IWC. If anything, Cena looks more like the good guy as the IWC looks more like villains.

Return of the Year: The Dudley Boyz

After a 10 year absence, the Dudley Boyz made their long awaited return the night after Summerslam to an electric crowd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It was a natural homecoming not just from WWE, but from the New York crowd as well considering how legendary they are in that area as well as around the world. Bubba and D-Von did not waste time as they interrupted the New Day by giving them the 3-D Dudley Death Drop. The Dudleyz started their return run by feuding with New Day for the Tag Titles. They came up on the losing end, but they elevated the hottest Tag Team today. Anytime you are considered worthy of the Dudleyz attention, you have to be special.

Rookie of the Year: Kevin Owens

Without question, Kevin Owens has made the biggest impact from the NXT Class that is being called up to the Main Roster. Kevin is very impressive both in the ring and on the mic. Owens knows how to cut a great promo not only in WWE, but on Social Media (look at how he owns the trolls on Twitter). Even though he has spent many years on the Indy Scene (ROH), Kevin is still considered a rookie by the WWE standards. Owens made a giant splash of momentum from the time that he first arrived on the Main Roster to feud with none other than John Cena himself. Owens did not break under pressure. In fact, Kevin brought his game to another level as his trilogy with Cena has raised his stock within WWE. Kevin made waves when he defeated the legendary 15-time champion by pinning him cleanly (no interference). Even in his two losses to Cena, Owens still looked like a star ready for bigger things. The best thing about this is the fact that Kevin has not had to change what has made him a star. He has stuck to his guns, and the fans and executives have learned to respect him for that. Kevin Owens is a true original, and his performance against the franchise of this era has been outstanding. Even though he was robbed of the Slammy Award in favor of Neville (bad idea), Kevin Owens has proven that he is the true MVP of NXT.

Most Improved Wrestler of the Year: Roman Reigns

2015 has been a roller coaster year for Roman Reigns. It has been a tale of two cities. In the first half of the year, Reigns won the Royal Rumble in front of one of the most hostile wrestling cities ever (Philadelphia). From there, he was prematurely launched into the Main Event scene for WrestleMania. Clearly, the heat from the fans forced WWE to push the panic button for Seth Rollins to save the main event of Mania. I'm sure that WWE knew that Roman needed to make improvements, but they did their best early on to be as optimistic as possible when they put Reigns in that position. They were clearly in denial about what he seriously needed to improve on. Then, he goes into the feud with the Wyatt Family. That ultimately culminates in their HIAC match with Roman winning. In between that time, Reigns worked hard to make improvements and smooth out the edges to develop and become sharper. It has not been an easy process by any means, but it has paid off with him winning the title at the end of the year.

Babyface/Most Popular Wrestler of the Year: Cesaro

Ever since Vince McMahon said that he could not connect with the fans and could not grab the "Brass Ring" in his Interview on Stone Cold's Podcast, Cesaro has answered the challenge to prove his doubters wrong. Each time an opportunity comes, Cesaro has stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park. After that "Brass Ring" statement, Cesaro's fans support has risen to a new level. Even Austin himself has gone to bat to defend him. This has been a turnaround for Cesaro after his identity was ripped apart once he won the Andre The Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX. We know how that story went. First, he turns heel. Next, his Big Swing is taken away. Then, he aligns with Paul Heyman only to be naturally overshadowed by Brock Lesnar himself. Then, he splits from Heyman only to go on a losing streak. When 2015 hit, Cesaro made a turnaround. He teamed with Tyson Kidd with Natalya as their manager. I call them the "Brass Ring Club". Together, they won the Tag Team Titles before Tyson got injured. Cesaro has provided great quality matches and has shown that he is capable of making the best out of whatever opponent he has been given to work with. Soon, he was given his Big Swing back by creative. Cesaro has proven to be a top notch performer. He is a remarkable athlete as a man his size has been able to do incredible things during his matches. As time goes on, Cesaro has continued to add new weapons to his arsenal. From the Sharpshooter to the Crossface and even a flying forearm. Whatever you need, Cesaro can deliver. From John Cena, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens to Big Show and Ryback. Cesaro has proven that he can bring the best out of himself and his opponent. His matches with Cena for the US Title have been some of the biggest highlights of RAW this year. They created masterpieces together. They were not only the best of Cesaro's career, but they can rank among the best of Cena's career as well. Cesaro's popularity has grown to the point where he has his own fan section in every arena that he goes to. Cesaro is a wrestling machine in every sense of the word. He is a throwback to the legendary technical wrestling that fans have been used to for years. His momentum was put on hold from an injury as this leaves him out for WrestleMania. This is one of the many huge blows that WWE has suffered going into the biggest show of them all. However, you cannot deny that Cesaro has made a great rebound compared to where he was a year before.

Who's Next? (Breakout Show of the Year): NXT Takeover Brooklyn

This was the most power packed event of an already loaded Summerslam weekend. Many can say that this was even better than Summerslam itself which says a lot. NXT Takeover took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn the night before Summerslam. The Main Event was Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor in a rematch for the NXT Title in a ladder match. Finn Balor defeats Owens to remain champion in a spectacular encore of their match in Japan. Other matches included Bayley vs. Sasha Banks for the NXT Women's Title, Japan legend Jushin "Thunder" Liger vs Tyler Breeze, and Samoa Joe vs. Baron Corbin. The show received widespread critical acclaim. It has received reviews from 8/10 to 9.5/10. This was by far the best NXT show of the year. You can even say that this was the best show of WWE overall this past year.

Breakout Star of the Year: Kevin Owens

Enough said.

Feud of the Year: Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker

This was a story of unfinished business from Brock Lesnar's groundbreaking victory over Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. Taker took a full year off to heal. He returned for a cup of coffee at WrestleMania 31 to show that he still has it. Fast forward to July. Brock Lesnar was on the verge of defeating Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship. Suddenly, the lights went out. As soon as they came back on, it was The Undertaker. Taker wasted no time in destroying Lesnar as he made the exclamation point using the Tombstone Piledriver. This was a highly intense feud, so much so that the entire locker room had to hold them back from each other. It was a clash of the titans. This would lead to their match at Summerslam, where Taker defeated Brock with "Hell's Gate". During the feud, Undertaker went a different route by constantly giving Brock a low blow. It has even become a punchline. The series would conclude with their vicious "Hell in a Cell" match with Brock getting the victory.

Match of the Year: Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble 2015)

This match was in fact a Showstopper. Brock Lesnar retained the WWE Championship in a great Triple Threat Match at the Royal Rumble to kick off 2015. He defeated John Cena and Seth Rollins. One thing that made this so special was that it was the polar opposite of the Royal Rumble match itself. People were worried about Brock as Champion because of his limited schedule. Cena was reinventing himself as a Workhorse, and Seth was still "Mr. Money In The Bank" as he was the Wildcard in this match. This did not disappoint at all. In fact, it went beyond expectations. Seth showed Lesnar, Cena and the WWE Universe that he could hang under pressure in the Prime Time Main Event spotlight. Rollins and Cena threw everything including the kitchen sink. This match further established Brock is a Superhuman mutant that can withstand multiple assaults and still come out as the conqueror. He went back to the well with the German Suplexes. Those are Cena's Kryptonite (watch Summerslam 2014). Seth's arsenal as a showstopping workhorse was on full display. He brought his A Game and took it to two of the all-time greats. The highlight of the match was when Seth gave Brock an Elbow Drop through the announce table. Rollins pulled out moves that were never seen in the Shield. Lesnar withstands everything as an overpowered monster and finishes things off with the F5 to remain WWE Champion.

PPV of the Year: WrestleMania 31

This WrestleMania came as an unexpected surprise. WWE did a great job of turning the corner when it comes to being too predictable. The highlight of this as I have said before was Seth Rollins becoming champion. Earlier in the show, Rollins lost to Randy Orton in a spectacular match. The highlight for me was when Orton countered the Curb Stomp with the RKO. Daniel Bryan won the Intercontinental Title in a great Ladder Match. Sadly, he could not hold onto it because of injuries. Triple H defeated Sting in the WCW Icon's debut match. It was still special even though Sting came out on the losing end. Undertaker returned to defeat Bray Wyatt to bounce back from his loss to Lesnar the year before. John Cena defeated Rusev to reclaim the United States Championship in honor of America. These were the things that made WrestleMania 31 a hidden gem in the history of Mania.

Wrestler of the Year: Seth Rollins

Once again, Seth Rollins has been the MVP of WWE. With his ups and downs, Seth has been the lightning rod for highlights and high-quality matches. Very few people have raised their game the way that Rollins has. Seth finished what he started in 2014 following the breakup of the Shield. He won MITB, had the top feud with Dean Ambrose and was without a doubt the top heel and most improved of the three. 2015 was the completion. Rollins cashed in his MITB Briefcase at the most opportune time at WrestleMania to become the new WWE Champion. Rollins defeated each challenger that came his way, big or small. He defeated Shield members Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns along with future HOF'er Randy Orton in a Fatal Four Way match. He retained the title against Brock Lesnar at Battleground (thanks to Undertaker). Rollins defeated another future HOF'er and modern day legend in John Cena at Summerslam to become the WWE Champion and US Champion. At Night of Champions, he defeated WCW Icon Sting. Rollins is a hybrid of Edge and HBK and their influence continues to shine in his performances. Other than Cena, nobody has been as consistent as Seth Rollins. He has been consistent, has great match quality, innovation and chemistry in the ring. When you add everything together, Seth Rollins was the Wrestler of the Year without question.
